El Salvador - Guatemala Customs Union Advances

In the fourth round negotiators concluded the Regulations on Controls and Integrated Procedures at Border Posts and their respective manual for Pedro de Alvarado - La Hachadura.

Guatemala, November 11, 2016. The Deputy Ministers of Integration and Foreign Trade in Guatemala and El Salvador, Enrique Lacs and Luz Estrella Rodríguez respectively, are actively working in the facilitation of bilateral trade, as a first step towards a customs union between the two countries.

Deputy Minister Lacs said that "making bilateral progress in these processes for a customs union is of utmost importance to Guatemala, especially with El Salvador. Our markets are very similar and each represents the other's second most important trading partner in the world".
