The Executive Port Commission plans to invest $9 million this year on modernization works at the Salvadoran terminal, and $20 million in the purchase of two RTG gantry cranes.

The head of the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA), Nelson Vanegas, announced that $9 million will be allocated towards improving the terminal's infrastructure.

Works include the construction of overpasses, a new parking area for trucks, LED lighting system for all docks, and a fire system for the premises at warehouse 3.

...In addition, the holder of ECA revealed that the state run company plans to 'acquire two RTG cranes, for the yard'. This purchase will allow for 'greater height and container movement capacity' he said. 'They are mobile cranes, each costing around $10 million, and in Acajutla two are needed to start off with'. According to Vanegas, this will allow greater mobility of cargo, more attention to container ships and for the development of the country to be supported.
