Film Festival October 30th till November 8th, 2014

The Embassy of Spain and the Cervantes Institute in Beirut in collaboration with the Metropolis Association and the Embassies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela, in addition to the Consulates of El Salvador, Portugal and Peru have presented the 5th edition of the Ibero-American Film Festival “Otras Miradas” or Other Views. The festival is an annual event featuring the best recent cinema from Latin America, Spain and Portugal. It is aimed at broadening the cultural horizons of Lebanese viewers.

The 5th edition was held at the cinema Metropolis Empire Sofil between the 30th of October and 8th of November 2014 with a broad selection of thirteen (13) feature films presenting the Lebanese public the cultural identities of the Ibero-American world. The event received a wide media coverage.

The Honorary Consulate of El Salvador presented the documentary “Cuatro Puntos Cardinals” by Javier Kafie, which had a great success.

The Consul made a ten (10) minute presentation in English about the Salvadoran film industry, the director and producer and, lastly the movie itself. This was followed by a video country presentation “El Salvador: Impresionante” and then the film itself.

The Salvadoran movie projection date was November 7th, 2014.

To encourage people to come, the Consul rented at his expense the movie theatre.
