Independence Day of El Salvador
15 Sep 2014On September 15th, 2014, the Consul took part in the celebration of Independence Day of El Salvador held at the military base of Miguel Cervantes in South Lebanon.
Among the participants were the Commander of the Spanish XXI Brigade, General Andrés Chapa Huidobro, high-ranking military personnel from different contingents, Consul General of San Marino, Dr. Youcef Zoughaib, special guests, as well as Lieutenant Colonel Franklin Bladimir Gavarrete, the Commander of the Salvadoran Contingent.
The military parade was followed by a reception during which the Consul made a brief speech in the Spanish language.
In his word, the Consul emphasized that the Independence Day was also a time for the Salvadoran people to think about the meaning of being a Salvadoran citizen. He added that every Salvadoran had the power, the ability and, above all, the responsibility to bring about change. He went on to say that the Salvadorans believe in the rule of law as the basis for all their rights and that attitude is recognized and respected by the international community. He concluded that after 193 years of independence, the Salvadoran nation is optimistic about its promising future.
